Richard Fields' career in Casino and Resort Development began in entertainment when he was part owner of the Catch a Rising Star Comedy Club. Catch a Rising Star Comedy Club is a famous stage in New York that has witnessed the rising careers of such stars as Robin Williams, Billy Crystal, Rosie O'Donnell, Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock, and many others. While with Catch a Rising Star, Richard Fields became acquainted with Donald Trump through Marla Maples, a performer at Catch a Rising Star who later became Donald Trump's wife.

Donald Trump and Richard Fields work together in the Casino and Resort Development business for a number of years before Richard Fields struck off on his own. Richard Fields founded Coastal Development, LLC and acquired the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino properties in Tampa and Hollywood, Florida. Both of these casinos became a smash success.
